Aside from serving as the spiritual leader at CBJ, Rabbi Shimon serves as the chaplain of Methodist Hospital, started Chabad of Park Slope, is a board member of National Committee for the Furtherance of Jewish Education, and co-directs the Rabbinical Committee of Brownstone Brooklyn.
At Congregation B'nai Jacob, Judaism is woven seamlessly with the many challenges of modern life into a rich and radiant tapestry. By sharing the study of Torah, the observance of Mitzvot, the joy of Shabbat and holidays, the warmth of a caring group of friends, and the education of our children, we collectively gain new dimension and depth to our day-to-day lives.
While those with Orthodox backgrounds are fairly represented in the congregation, we welcome Jews of all ages and backgrounds. All are encouraged to strengthen their connection with Torah and the Jewish people at their own pace from within our open-minded, yet orthodox framework. Every member of the congregation – man, woman, and child – is a highly valued individual. Together, we joyfully share in the excitement of our accomplishments and we strengthen each other to face our challenges with wisdom and dignity.
Congregation B'nai Jacob is proud of its significant role in our diverse Park Slope community. The synagogue's distinct presence and involvement in neighborhood matters has served to enlighten and inform Jews and non-Jews alike of the importance and vibrancy of Orthodox Judaism in the modern, urban world.
